How to report a claim.
Claims are handled by your insurer. Here is what to do first, the deadlines that apply in Florida, and where to report. If you are unsure which policy applies, call us.
First steps
What to do after a loss.
The order matters. Safety first, then evidence, then the report.
Make sure everyone is safe
Call 911 if anyone is hurt or there is a fire, a crime or a road hazard. Insurance comes second.
Record what happened
Take photos and video of the damage before anything is moved. After a crash, exchange names, plates and insurer details.
Stop further damage
Cover a damaged roof or shut off water if it is safe to do so. Keep receipts for materials and emergency repairs.
Report it to your insurer
Use the claims phone number or website on your policy. Have your policy number and the date of the loss ready.
Keep a file
Save the claim number, the adjuster's name, every estimate and every receipt, and note the date of each conversation.
Where to report
Go to your insurer.
Your insurer's claims phone number is on your policy and ID card. These links open each insurer's website, where you can report a claim or sign in to your account.
Deadlines
Time limits to keep in mind.
Home
Give notice of a claim within one year of the date of loss, and a supplemental claim within 18 months.
Auto
See a doctor within 14 days of a crash. PIP medical benefits are payable only if treatment starts in that window.
Flood
Flood damage is claimed on your flood policy, not your home policy. Report it as soon as the water recedes.
Business
Report property damage and any injury to a customer or employee promptly, before repairs or statements are made.
A&D Insurance Services does not decide or pay claims. Do not report a claim by email or through the form on this site. Your policy sets the exact duties and time limits that apply to you.
Claim questions.
Do I report the claim to you or to my insurer?
To your insurer. They assign the adjuster and make the decision, so reporting directly is the quickest route. Call us if you are unsure which policy applies or need help with the next step.
How long do I have to report a home claim in Florida?
You must give notice within one year of the date of loss, and a supplemental claim within 18 months.
Does my home policy cover flood damage?
No. Flood from rising water is claimed on a separate flood policy.
What is my deductible after a hurricane?
Hurricane damage has its own deductible, usually 2%, 5% or 10% of your home's insured value. It applies once per calendar year if you stay with the same insurer.
How soon should I see a doctor after a car crash?
Within 14 days. PIP medical benefits are payable only if initial treatment happens in that window.
