Life insurance in Brandon, FL
Life insurance pays a sum to the people you name when you die. It replaces income, clears a mortgage and covers final costs, so your family is not left to manage those alone.

What it covers
What life insurance includes.
Term life
Coverage for a set period, usually 10 to 30 years, at the lowest cost. It suits most families with a mortgage or children.
Whole life
Coverage for life with a fixed premium and a cash value that builds over time.
Universal life
Permanent coverage with flexible premiums and benefit amounts.
Final expense
A small whole life policy, often $5,000 to $25,000, for funeral and end-of-life costs.
No-exam options
Policies issued from health questions and records without a medical exam.
Riders
Additions such as waiver of premium on disability, or early access to the benefit after a terminal diagnosis.

Common questions
Life insurance questions.
How much life insurance do I need?
A common starting point adds up your debts, the income your family would need for a number of years, your mortgage balance and education costs, then subtracts savings and existing coverage. We will work through it with you.
Term or whole life?
Term costs much less and covers the years when others depend on your income. Whole life lasts for life and builds cash value. Many people need term, and some need a mix.
Do I need a medical exam?
Not always. Many insurers issue policies from health questions and records. An exam can still lead to a better price for some applicants.
Can I get coverage with a health condition?
Often, yes. Price and options vary by insurer, and there are policies with simplified or guaranteed acceptance.
Is my work policy enough?
Usually not on its own. Employer coverage is often one or two times salary and ends if you leave the job.
Is the payout taxed?
A death benefit paid to a beneficiary is generally not included in income for federal tax. Interest paid on it is taxable.
What happens if I miss a payment?
Florida policies have a grace period of at least 30 days. If you are 64 or older you can name a second person to be notified before a policy lapses.
Can I cancel after I buy?
Yes. You have at least 14 days after delivery to return a new policy for a full refund.
