The dates
Open enrollment for 2027 coverage runs from November 1, 2026 to January 15, 2027. Enroll by December 15 for coverage that starts on January 1. In Florida these plans are bought through HealthCare.gov.
Subsidies are narrower than they were
The extra premium subsidies ended on December 31, 2025. Households with income above 400% of the federal poverty level no longer receive a premium tax credit.
For 2027 coverage, 400% of the poverty level is $63,840 for one person and $132,000 for a family of four. Households between 100% and 400% may still qualify for monthly savings.
Estimate your income carefully
Your tax credit is based on the income you expect for the year. If your income ends the year higher than you estimated, the excess credit must be repaid in full when you file your taxes. Report income changes during the year so the credit is adjusted.
Check whether your plan still exists
Several insurers have left or are leaving Florida's Marketplace. If your plan is ending you will need to choose a new one during open enrollment. Before you do, check three things against each plan you consider.
- Your doctors and preferred hospital are in the network.
- Your prescriptions are on the plan's drug list.
- The deductible and yearly out-of-pocket limit fit your budget.
If you miss the window
Outside open enrollment you can enroll within 60 days of a qualifying event such as losing other coverage, marriage, a birth or a move. Short-term medical plans can fill a gap, but they are not Marketplace plans, do not qualify for tax credits and can exclude pre-existing conditions.
